ST TUDY CHURCH TOWER ROOF
Since the first mention of the work required to the tower roof of St Tudy Church in July last year the Tower Team have been hard at work with the technical aspects and raising funds for the roof. The good news is that the Diocese of Truro has approved the work to replace the existing leaking roof with a copper sheet roof designed to be fully waterproof. Three quotes have been obtained for the work, and we are now trying to raise in the order of £70,000 for the work.
The jazz concert in the Church last year started the ball rolling, and along with donations received, so far, we have raised £11,362 but there is still a long way to go, please can you help?
We are looking at what Grants may be available for the work and have some interesting fund-raising events planned for this year.
· 3rd May: Tremeer Garden Open Day (To include a raffle with some excellent prizes!)
· 14th May: Falmouth Community Gospel Choir in St Tudy Church.
· In August: Metal-Detecting day at a local farm. There will be the opportunity to have a go.
· In September: St Tudy Church Heritage Day with guest speakers.
· Date to be announced: Talk on the history of the Royal Navy.
